ART makes your soul grow! Kurt Vonnegut said so.

Introspection leads to enlightenment

When you are in the moment of your art practice and creating authentically, you can’t lie. It teaches you to be with your truth. Something gets revealed to you in those unique moments that would have otherwise gone untapped. You receive a small enlightenment each time this happens.

Buddha quoted as saying:

“Be the lamplight upon yourself.”

Meaning, introspection is the path to enlightenment.

Many philosophers throughout the ages have echoed this in saying ‘know thy self’. What better way to gain introspection whilst creating something of true value for others to also reflect on, than by creating art.

Here are a few other areas I explore in my book WHY YOUR ART MATTERS:

  • Growth & Expansion

  • Learning to express and communicate

  • Build confidence and Self-trust

  • Discipline

"Discipline in art is a fundamental struggle to understand oneself, as much as to understand what one is drawing"

- Henry Moore
